Celebrating Another Incredible Season

5 July 2019

Stevenage Starlets FC Presentation 2019

Our annual presentation day not only marks the end of Stevenage Starlets second season as a club but also gives us a chance to reflect on how far we have come.

After such an incredible first season it would have been hard to imagine how things could go better, but somehow this one seems to have been just as remarkable. It has been another year of unprecedented growth, ending with 9 teams and 115 girls, very nearly ten times the number we started with in 2017!

Such rapid growth has seen us have to search for new playing and training facilities in addition to Lodge Farm and we have been very lucky to secure Thomas Alleyne as our main ground. The facilities there for our home games this year have been excellent and we’ll look to build on our relationship over the coming seasons.

It has also been another amazing year on the awards front, with Starlets collecting no less than three ‘Club of the Year’ awards, from Hertfordshire FA, Herts Sports Partnership and for the second year running, the Comet Sports Awards. This is fantastic recognition for which all involved can be justifiably incredibly proud.

Of course the club would not be able to function without players or parents, but most of all without the hard work of all our Committee Members, Coaches and Volunteers. They all give up their time for free, so it is also a time to say thank you to them, without whom, all these girls would not be able to enjoy the beautiful game.

As the years go by this inevitably means that we also have to get used to saying goodbye to some familiar faces as they choose to move on, so our special thanks go to Martin, Buster and Nicky for their contributions as coaches.

Amid all this growth and change our values remain the same and we need to continue to live these as the new season dawns. As always, our focus remains to ensure all of our girls have fun, first and foremost and that we give every player the opportunity to play football, irrespective of their circumstances or ability.

We are proud to be a club that works hard to create a fun, safe and inclusive environment and this is reflected in our continuing status as an FA Charter Standard Club.

So today we bring the whole club together to celebrate Stevenage Starlets FC and the joy that being part of it brings to those involved. Well done to all of our girls, whether or not you picked up an award today, you are all part of an amazing team and in our eyes you are all winners.
