Starlets Make History at Wembley

10th November 2019

Following England's fantastic run to the Semi Finals of the Women's World Cup in France, the Lionesses played to a record breaking 77,768 crowd at Wembley last night, which included a group of 120 members of the Starlets football family who were there to see history being made!

Although the weather was thoroughly miserable and in the end the result wasn’t the one the vast majority of the largest ever crowd for an England women’s game at the home of football wanted, nothing could dampen the enthusiasm of our girls who were proud to be part of this historic occasion.

The transformation in the amount of interest in the Women’s game in the last few years has been incredible and even a few years ago the idea that the Lionesses could sell out Wembley Stadium would have seemed hopelessly optimistic.

Having their own role models is really significant for all of our young players, and events like this mean they can grow up believing that football truly offers equal opportunities, allowing them to nurture dreams of following their idols to one day appear on this hallowed turf themselves.

This is why we just had to be part of this special occasion and we would like to thank everyone that made up the Starlets group for braving the cold, wind and rain to give the girls a night to remember!
